Abstract
Статья посвящена изучению социальной символики средневекового костюма. Автор приходит к выводу, что в средневековом обществе цвет одежды использовался для визуальной стратификации и выступал в качестве средства социальной идентификации человека.
The interrelation of the suit and its color - the means of social recognition and classification in the Middle Ages - with the person’s position in the society, his status and profession is shown in this article. The conclusion is drawn that in the Middle Ages the colour of the costume was used for the visual identification of the person belonging to a certain social group.
