У истоков российской американистики: Павел Григорьевич Мижуев (1861–1931)

Abstract

Статья посвящена рассмотрению вклада Павла Григорьевича Мижуева (1861–1931) в развитие американских исследований в дореволюционной России и в первые годы советской власти. Показана его роль в качестве одного из основоположников изучения Соединенных Штатов Америки в России, написавшего первую политическую историю США, в которой история страны прослежена от момента знакомства англичан с Америкой и вплоть до начала ХХ века. Рассмотрен его вклад в исследование отношений североамериканских колоний с Англией, Войны за независимость и создание США, проблем падения рабства в Америке, достижений страны в области народного образования, в сфере решения рабочего и женского вопроса и других актуальных проблем истории и современной ему американской действительности.The article comprehensively demonstrates outstanding place of Pavel Grigorievich Mizhuev (1861–1931) in the field of American Studies in the pre-revolutionary Russia. It is shown his role as one of the founders of the study of the United States in Russia, who had written the first political history of the United States, where the country’s history is traced from the moment of acquaintance of the Englishmen with America until the early twentieth century. Considered his contribution to the study of the relations of the North American colonies with England, the War of Independence and the founding of the United States, the problems of the fall the of slavery in America, the country’s achievements in the field of public education, in the field of solving labor and women’s issues, and other topical issues of history and of contemporary American reality
