Abstract

The article deals with aesthetics of horror in Gothic literature, as well as features of Gothic poetics. Gothic literature by touching taboo themes of death, resurrection, curse, the existence of other worlds and other phenomena attracts genuine interest of the reader. Gothic refreshes philosophical questions about the role and destiny of man in the world, the relation of Self and Other, of the existence of another life and other problems of human existence.
