Die Rolle der lateinischsprachigen Poeten des deutschen Kulturraums in der literarischen Entwicklung Weißrusslands und Litauens (des Großfürstentums Litauen) in der Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts

Abstract

This article presents some of the main results of a research project funded by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, which concentrates mainly on the conceptualization of the term „identity“ in relation to the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. This research project examines only the part of the 16th century art (the Golden Age of this country) that was created by poets from the German cultural area, because especially to this part of Latin poetry least attention has been paid in the research up to now. The separate works by Adam Schroether, Heinrich Moller and Johann Mylius are considered in relation to the artistic experience of some authors of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Two relevant aspects of this cultural region are accented here: a special understanding of heroism and the heroic ideal, and the vision of the Commonwealth of Rzecz Pospolita of the two nations
