Рецепция шекспировской «Бури» в романе М. Этвуд «Ведьмино отродье»

Abstract

Статья посвящена роману «Ведьмино отродье» , представляющим прозаическую интерпретацию пьесы В. Шекспира «Буря».. Этвуд, трактуя шекспировскую пьесу, говорит об ответственности Проспера за Калибана. И об ответственности общества за калибанов, поскольку оно само их создало. В интерпретации М. Этвуд, и пьеса Шекспира, и ее роман являются произведениями христианскими, произведениями католическими в своей трактовке вины и прощения.

Shakespeare’s play “The Tempest” is the pretext of M. Atwood’s novel “Hag-Seed”. Atwood stressed in it its likeness to a dream in complete correspondence to “ The Tempest”. The main themes of “The Tempest” which are revenge and love, forgiveness and repentance are the main themes of Atwood’s novel. Atwood treats Caliban as the analogy tо the prisoners with whom Fillips works. In her interpretation of Shakespeare’s play she stresses the idea that society should take responsibility for calibans because it created them. In their interpretation of guilt and forgiveness both Shakespeare’s play and Atwood’s novel are very Christian, very catholic books.
