The Concepts of «War» and «Peace» in the Old Russian Language Picture of the World: The Genesis of Antonymous Relations

Abstract

The article is devoted to evolution of systematic relations in the lexical system of the Russian language that is studied in the light of cognitive linguistics. The article discovers the origin of the «war» and «peace» concepts, their historical development in the Old Russian language picture of the world and peculiarities of their verbalization in the Old Russian language. На примере конкретных словоупотреблений рассматривается механизм эволюции антонимических отношений в истории русского языка: от отношения несовместимости к эквиполентной семантической оппозиции и, наконец, к современной привативной семантической оппозиции.
