Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the so-called “small dictionary forms”, or incorporated dictionaries − lexicographic works that are included in other publications (of actually lexicographic, linguodidactic, encyclopedic nature). The object of the research is the translation dictionaries of linguistic terms.
The article substantiates the thesis that during the significant part of the XX – XXI centuries Belarusian linguistic terminography was developing in direct connection with other branches of terminography under the significant influence of specific socio-political circumstances.
In the study of the incorporated dictionaries the following lexicographical parameters are taken into account: the size of the registry (generic and aspectual dictionaries), the type of incorporation (compilation dictionaries and application dictionaries), the functional type (translation, explanatory-translation dictionaries),
the direction of translation (for example, Belarusian-Russian, Russian-Belarusian dictionaries), the type of microstructure (alphabetical dictionaries, alphabetical-cluster dictionaries, dictionaries of sporadic microstructure).
It is concluded that translation incorporated dictionaries of linguistic terms are quite an important segment of the Belarusian terminography of the XX − XXI centuries. In conditions when terminography claims the status of an independent linguistic discipline that combines the achievements of lexicography, terminology and
lexicology, the understanding of peculiarities of compiling incorporated dictionaries is essential for the awareness of the general history of terminography and formation of its theory.
